New Orleans summers can be a strange time. The city gets a little quieter, there’s the weather to keep an eye on and, to borrow a phrase, it’s hotter than a billy goat with a blow torch.
To combat the fatigue, a bunch of festivals have popped up over the years - they keep people coming into town and help our beloved service industry workers make a living over the leaner months. Many are coming back for the first time since the pandemic, and we thought a round up of the summer’s festival options was a good idea. There’s everything from running bulls to chess to cheap food - something for everyone.
In this week’s edition, we also took to the heights at Vue Orleans, and got down to street level on the Street Art & Mural Walk. There’s also reviews of dim sum-mongers Dian Xin and a peek at young person’s hotel MOXY New Orleans Downtown.
As always, we’ve got cultural highlights in our weekly listings and some offers and events news in the, er, news section. One quick plug: our sister site, Up All Night New Orleans, presents their great monthly comedy showcase, Moral Panic, this Saturday at the AllWays Lounge. It’s an amazing line-up of the city’s nest comedians and Out All Day readers can get 50% off tickets (usually $10) by using the code ‘UAN’ at check out here!
That’s it for now - we’ll be back next week. We’re growing quickly but if you feel like sharing this newsletter with anyone you think might be interested, we always appreciate a new face. Take care, stay as cool as you can, and much love wherever you are.
