New Orleans: Where the Illuminati Started (kind of)
Your free, weekly, curated guide to arts and culture in New Orleans
[Skip the smalltalk - click here for this week’s edition]
Some brand new video content for you this week: a story of two French Quarter eccentrics and how they (sort of) invented the Illuminati. We also have a review of new restaurant Junebug by Gia Martinez, zombie movie 28 Years Later reviewed by Jeff DeRouen and your regular curated culture diary and news.
We’re close to the end of our fundraising drive, and we’re at $2,100. My aim was $5,000, but I completely understand that there’s a lot going on, and many more urgent needs, so I’m happy to scale it down. I’m going to extend the fundraising period by one week, to July 8th, just as I’ve had a lot going on - I’m the primary carer for my parents in the UK right now and it’s just been hectic. It would be great to get to $3,000. If you would consider donating just $5 for a year’s ‘subscription’, I would be so grateful. I can’t be in the city right now, but I don’t want to give up on four year’s work and I just want to be able pay local writers to keep this thing going.
My Venmo is @shandypockets (last four digits of my cell are 8421 if they ask).

For donations above $10, we have a bunch of rewards - you can see more details here. Have a company/event/anything to promote? Let’s talk, I can do deals on ads and any money raised goes into the freelance budget to pay local writers.
Thank you so much for reading, and once again, thank you for any consideration with our fundraising this month, we sincerely appreciate the support.
Much love, as always.
