Hey, I hope that Francine didn’t cause too much drama for you and that you and your got through the week safely. The storm caused the cancellation of a fair amount of staged drama, and so all of the theatre reviews we had lined up for this week will be now be going up in the next few days. Please consider supporting both A Doll’s House and Penny Dreadfuls, both great productions were affected and have newly-limited runs. There’s a link to these productions, and all of the city’s theatre for Sept and Oct here.
We do have SOME features for you, though! In this week’s edition:
Brewed Awakening: The Rise and Rise of Coffee Culture in New Orleans: Marielle Songy previews the upcoming Coffee Festival, and (g)rounds up local places that NOLA caffeine fans can visit to further their interests all year round.
A New Music Festival is Born: Teena May and Dusky Waters didn’t see a local music festival that represented them, and so they co-created one. We asked them more about the birth of the upcoming Black Americana Fest.
Sand, Ash & Heat: The New Orleans Museum of Art has a new exhibition of artists that work with glass, accompanied by historic glassware and the history of the material in art. Artist Jamie Chiarello talks us through the highlights.
Our News feed rounds up the many Taylor Swift-themed menu items that are appearing in restaurants and bars as the Eras tour approaches the city. There’s also news of a very special James Beard dinner collaborating with a number of amazing local chefs and bartenders, and acclaimed fish restaurant GW Fins unveils its striking, new interior design.
Your seven-day culture guide, includes festivals galore, including L.O.C.A.L.S Fest, Westbank Heritage Food & Music Festival, Feel the Rhythm of The Drums Festival and more highlights of your week in arts and culture
Again, I hope everyone’s doing OK. We’ll be uploading those theatre reviews to our new Facebook group, and posting them to our Instagram account, so be sure to join/follow for those. Take care, and as always, much love.
