Hi, a day late this week - my apologies. Last Friday, I was in Bangkok for work and a 7.7 earthquake hit nearby Myanmar, causing mass chaos, and tragically many casualties, as I’m sure you’ve seen in the news. I’m happy to be safe (and I’ve now left the city) but we had to emergency evacuate and I was without my phone and laptop for almost two days (not important in the scheme of things, obviously), so I’m a little behind this week, as you can imagine. All thoughts with the 2,000+ victims - hug your loved ones, life is delicate, what can I say? Seems trivial to go back to normal, but life goes on, and there’s some genuinely great stuff this week, so let’s dive in:
New Orleans On Stage: April 2025: The return of Hamilton is just one of the draws in a packed month, with theatre season in full swing. Take a look at the best of the plays, music, and more coming up this month [click here]
New Orleans events and festivals: Jazz Fest looms at the end of the month, but before then there’s ragtime, horror movies, giant puppets and mud tests, not to mention French Quarter Fest. A jam packed month curated for you [click here]
Two amazing productions and two great reviews by our writer Dorian Hatchett for you. The Tennessee Williams Theatre Company perform an incredible version of Orpheus Rising [click here] and the fun, touring production of Billy Elliott: The Musical comes to JPAS [click here]
The weekly diary has some of those festivals, plus shows, events, book signings and the usual curated selection of arts and culture for you [click here]
(*We’ll pick up on news again next week, I just wanted to get the issue out to you after a weird few days.)
Thank you for reading as always - have a fun, safe week and we’ll see you next week. Be sure to check out The NOLA Project’s last few shows of Every Brilliant Thing and if you need to complete your tax return, our sponsor this week has everything you need - flyers below.
Sincerely: much love.
