Ten years ago, I sat in The Golden Lantern and interviewed three New Orleans drinks writers (pictured) about their new book, The French Quarter Drinking Companion. This ‘guide’ (more like a snapshot of drinking culture in the Quarter) is still one of my favorite local books, and even though some of the bars are gone, many are still there and the stories remain relevant. You can read about the inspiration for the book, and find out why you should read it in the original interview, right here.
We’re working on short travel guides to places you can visit easily from New Orleans. We’ve just redesigned our guide to Charlotte, North Carolina. More to come very soon.
This week is jam packed with events. The New Orleans Food and Wine Experience, The Creole Tomato Festival, The Oddities and Curiosities Expo and of course, New Orleans Pride. See the whole week in culture laid out for you in our updated seven-day diary.
Remember that we also have news, real-life stories and a sister publication just for nightlife, with all-new performer profiles: Up All Night.
Thanks for reading - have a great week whatever you’re getting into.
Much love,
Paul O
